Day 6, NEBDR, Sections 1 and 2

 NEBDR is considered second hardest routes within all, western and eastern routes. I started around 7AM and within first 5 miles ended up at Class 4 road…

I wasn’t planning and I’m not planning on riding Class 4 roads on heavy bike on my own… once I entered it, it took me 40 minutes just to turn the bike around…

Most of other roads on the tracks are perfect gravel roads, and occasionally “seasonal”, which are not maintained during off season and usually ATV or Snowmobile trails

Hit and few covered bridges 

Two times a came to gas stations with zero fuel. Even though the maps show available gas stations, they might not be there…

Rode the top loop of section two, very tough road, didn’t know if I could make it without washing out, but everything went well… you know, when you start and get deeper into trouble, you hope it’ll get better, and sone tones it does, some times it doesn’t. It did this time…

I’m now in Copake Falls, NY, end of section 2, at State Park campground - very nice

Day 5, MABDR completed

 Got up early and went to Lowes to get bolts and nuts to secure the pannier frame.

Then stopped by Walmart and picked up a $10 fishers short - light and all synthetic - life saver, I’ve been wearing 5:11 tactical short sleeve one and it was too thick too hot to be in. And after ride it’s rinsed and dries fast

Sections 8 and 9 were quick nice gravel roads through State parks and forests, though many off them are usually snowmobile trails in winter.

Finished the MABDR at around 3PM and took an I-86 toward Hancock, New York… that’s where NEBDR (North-East) starts..

Staying in a $55 motel, changed rear brake pads, and ready for home made dinner

Day 4, sections 5, 6 and 7 in one day

Pretty much ride just a little shy of 300 miles today. 

Section 5, starting from Section 4 ALT (Harper Ferry bypass), is perfect beginner finest quality gravel one-lane highway… 

Section 6 takes you over several mountain ridges, though the very first one had a bridge taken down for repairs so I had to detour around 40 miles on Penn Turnpike

Section 7 is long, mostly gravel and tiring… all the roads go through State Parks and Forests… 

Stopped at the designated fuel and end of section 7 (start of section 8) and met bunch of ADV bikers on different types of bikes going North to South, who just finished section 8.

Quick inspection and repairs for tomorrow morning, one of the quick fixing for pannier frame got lost and I need to bend my brake pedal back in place so my foot won’t accidentally rests on it

Day 3, finished Section 3, and entire Section 4. I’m in Pensilvania…

 Well, friends, it was the hell of a ride today. Started sharp 8AM, and once on a trail I figured bailing out yesterday was good decision. Even though the trail was OK, but it had lots of fallen branches and trees.. I dropped my bike twice, first, when going watercrossing with Traction Control ON (a no-no). And second time when jumping a fallen tree (from yesterday). Finished Section 3 at noon and jumped on Section 4, which was piece of cake as 90% of it was paved.

Here are the pics and YouTube dump of videos... Ended up in Waynsborro, Pensilvania... Entire state sells alcohol only at special places, so gas stations won't have beer. But the town was friendly...

Day 2, section 3, bailed out to motel due to thunderstorms and floods

 Last night I completely blinded the windows and didn't wake up until 8AM. Had to pack in a hurry and leave to start section 3. It starts with nice gravel roads and continues to be awesome ride. I still didn't get why Tub Run Road was named that way... Well, it has lots of tub looking pot holes filled with water, maybe that's why...

Was coming to exit Washington National Forest when skies open and had to get into motel at 4PM before bigger things arrived

Day 1, Haul to Damascus, VA and start of BDR

 Took of just past 7AM toward Damascus and got to the start of Section 1 of Mid Atantic BDR around 11:40ish...

Finished Section 1 and immediately started the second section,  which includes Tub Run Road, I had no clue why it was named that way,  I still don't know but may have an idea

I'm gonna stop here, had lowered my bike going through and around one of the puddles - "tubs", don't - go through the middle.

Section 2 was finished too late so I'm in hotel in Covington
